Aldea means village in Spanish - and that's exactly the kind of atmosphere we are creating here. We want you to feel like this is your home while staying at Aldea Hostel.  Everyone is welcoming, helpful and friendly. We have many communal events (barbecues, cinema trips, bar crawls, etc.) where you can have fun and make new friends.

BE CAREFUL WITH THE TAXI DRIVERS! PLEASE READ THIS NOTE!

While San Jose is one of the safest cities in Central America, Aldea Hostel would like to remind you that tourists are sometimes the victims of predatory taxi drivers. Some of our guests have had problems with dramatic fare overcharges and dishonest drivers who pretend our hostel is full and take you somewhere else. Just like how you would protect your valuables in a crowded market, you should protect your wallet from scammer taxi drivers. Always negotiate your fare before you get into the taxi, or insist on using the taxi driver's meter. Remember official taxis are red and have a meter in them.

And most importantly do not forget that Aldea Hostel is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
